Ocean thermal energy in tropical zones
NOVELTIS supports Naval Group in the analysis of the interest of exploiting ocean thermal energy in tropical and intertropical zones.
This study is the upstream phase for the selection of sites of interest for marine thermal energy activities. A data collection for seawater temperature data according to the basins has been done.
The aim of the study was to set up a practical decision-support methodology enabling Naval group to identify, locate and assess the various oceanographic and/or atmospheric climatic phenomena, on large or small scales, that have an impact on seawater temperature at the surface and at depth, in the short and long term.
This regarded as well energy activities related to Marine Thermal Energy (MTE).

Means used
Results
NOVELTIS has drawn up a synthesis consisting of technical data sheets classified by type of event, making it possible to make a global climatology of seawater temperature according to very specific areas subject to extreme events.
