Renewable Energy Atlas of Morocco
An interactive decision support tool for national and regional energy strategies.
The RE atlas allows professionals to identify suitable locations for the establishment of future renewable energy parks thanks to a digital representation of wind, solar and biomass resources.
NOVELTIS has implemented for its client an innovative customized solution that takes an active part in the Moroccan national strategy for renewable energy and energy efficiency. This strategy rolls out programs for the installation of solar, wind and biomass production plants with the objective to reach 42% of the total electricity production in 2020.
ADEREE is a national agency whose mission is to deploy government policy about renewable energy and energy efficiency, in order to reduce energy dependency and improve environmental conservation.
Through this tool, ADEREE contributes to the reduction of energy dependency in the Kingdom and to the development of local, clean and renewable energy.

Renewable Energy Atlas of Morocco is integrated into a Geographic Information System (GIS) with a user interface that presents wind, solar and biomass resources in an accurate and interactive way. It allows professionals to identify areas suitable for the establishment of future renewable energy production parks.
Means used
Atlas data were generated by next-generation weather simulation models that benefit from the latest scientific advances in atmospheric physics. The validation of this data was carried out using on-site measurements performed by ADEREE or provided by local weather stations.
